Janitor returns 35K cash found in mall's hallway

TUGUEGARAO CITY – A struggling life did not deter a mall worker from returning P35,900 in cold cash he discovered along a mall’s hallway here.

40-year-old Rio Billiones was cleaning the hall way area of atrium when he found the cash which was apparently unknowingly dropped by its owner.

“Nakita ko iyong cash na nakarubber bond, alam ko na pera iyon kaya dali dali kong dinala sa Customer Relations Service (CRS ) Office at naisip ko na maaring ang pera na iyon ay nahulog ng may ari” Billiones told Manila Bulletin.

The mall's CRS Department eventually identified the owner of the money, Jhon Carlo Cabbuag, who operates a bicycle shop inside the mall. The cash was their earnings for the last two days.

Cabbuag lauded Billiones for his honesty and kind gesture and expressed his gratitude to the mall's administration where he’s been working since February.

“Bibiyaaan ka ng Diyos ng mas marami kung ikaw mismo ay mapagkakatiwalaan sa isang bagay” he added.

Meanwhile, Gerina Rose M. Torno, Public Relations Officer of the mall said Billiones was given a gift certificate and cash courtesy of the mall’s owner.
