Eriobu, Vosotros lead scorers in PBA 3x3

Purefoods’ Joseph Eriobu topped the scoring charts in two of the first three legs of the PBA’s new 3x3 tournament.

The former Mapua standout’s ability to play inside and out has enabled him to produce big scoring numbers in both times the TJ Titans made the semis of the league’s halfcourt version.

Eriobu had 56 points in the opening leg which saw Purefoods secure a third place finish and a cash prize of P30,000.

He led the TJ Titans’ recovery from an early exit in the second leg by posting 46 points in Leg 3 held recently at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

With Eriobu leading the charge, Purefoods reached the semifinals of Leg 3 but lost to eventual champion Sista before settling for fourth after being defeated by Terrafirma in the consolation match.

Meanwhile, Almond Vosotros of TNT had the most points during Leg 2 with 57 points thanks to his consistent outside sniping.

Tonino Gonzaga of the Bolts is also one of the tournament’s consistent offensive players with 42 points for third in the opening leg and 50, good for second-best, during his team’s successful run in the second stage.

Platinum Karaoke’s Chris de Chavez was second in the first leg with 45 and seventh in the second with 37.

Another revelation is San Miguel Beer’s Jeff Manday who was third in points during Leg 2 after exhibiting impressive ballhandling skills that helped set up scoring chances.

Sista’s Kenneth Mocon placed fourth in that leg with 41 before scoring 40 for third overall during his team’s run to the Leg 3 crown.

The PBA 3x3 will resume this weekend with the fourth leg at the Pasig venue.
