2 cyclists killed, 6 hurt in N. Samar road crash


TACLOBAN CITY - Two cyclists were killed, six were hurt after two vehicles figures in a road crash Tuesday (November 30) in San Isidro, Northern Samar.

The fatalities were identified as Lando Lance Dolino, 51, from Brgy. Mudburon, Alang-Alang, Leyte; and Jake Gatila, 20, a resident of Brgy. Sagkahan here.

Initial investigation disclosed that a wing van and a pickup truck were traveling on opposite directions along Maharlika Highway, Sitio Maludbalidlod, Brgy. Palanit of said town.

The wing van was traveling from Calbayog City heading towards Allen, Northern Samar, while the pickup truck was traversing from Allen heading to Calbayog City. It was learned that the group of cyclists came from an event in the province and were on their way home.

Upon reaching the sharp curve, the van overshot to the opposite lane, accidentally hitting the incoming vehicle.

The driver of the truck and the passengers, including a minor sustained several injuries and were rushed to Allen District Hospital.However, back riders,

Dolino and Gatila were declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Both vehicles incurred damages with undetermined estimated costs, while the driver of the van was unharmed.
