Tims' Boom Esports tops Dota 2 BTS pro series group stage

Filipino Dota 2 star Timothy “Tims” Randrup led Boom Esports to a first seed finish at the end of the group stage of the Dota 2 BTS Pro-series Season 9.

Tims, who was acquired by Boom Esports following his release from TNC Dota 2 team, joined hands with fellow Filipinos Erin Jasper “Yopaj” Ferrer and Gabriel “skem” Ong to power the Indonesia-based Dota 2 squad to a 5-3-0 record with 13 total victories at the end of the group stage.

Boom Esports claimed the first seed at the end of the eliminations to secure a spot in the upper bracket against no. 4 team Nigma Galaxy SEA.

Meanwhile, Filipino squads struggled in the group stage of the tournament with OB Esports x Neon and Polaris Esports finishing at the 5th and 6th spots to qualify to the lower bracket of the playoffs.

OB.Neon narrowly missed the upper bracket as the squad and Nigma Galaxy actually had an identical record of 2-5-1 and with a similar nine points across the board.

A winner over the rule, however, broke the tie, relegating OB.Neon to the fifth spot as it was beaten by Nigma Galaxy, 2-0, in Day 1 of the eliminations.

Execration also managed to make the cut at the 8th spot of the standings while Omega Esports bid the tournament goodbye after a winless campaign in the group stage.

OB.Neon will face Execration while Polaris will tackle no. 7 Army Geniuses in a best-of-three series in the first round of the lower bracket on Nov. 10.

Boom Esports and Nigma Galaxy, on the other hand, will lock horns the next day, Nov. 11 in a best-of-three clash while no. 2 Motivate.Trust Gaming will take on no.3 Yangon Galacticos.

The tournament serves as teams’ training ground in preparation for the upcoming 2022 Dota Pro Circuit seasons.
