Super Swerte tops Silver Cup, gets P2.4 million

Rivalries were rekindled and exciting finishes marked three big events of the P4-million 2021 Philracom-PCSO dubbed as Sunday Showdown at the San Lazaro Business and Leisure Park in Carmona, Cavite.

First to re-ignite interest was the Super Swerte-Boss Emong duel in the Silver Cup.

It was Super Swerte who proved steadier and hungrier as he outlasted Boss Emong in what could be the most exciting duel down the stretch in years.

Super Swerte negotiated the 1,750-meter contest in 1:50.6 (9'-23-24'-25'-28), enough to reward owner Leonardo "Sandy" Javier Jr. that handsome top purse of P2.4 million.

The son of Art Moderne out of Faster Tapper who is being trained by multi-titled Ruben Tupas opted to stay in the middle early before he and Boss Emong made known their burning desires to win the race in the far turn.

In the last 200 meters, they delighted their supporters by engaging each other in a frenetic race but it was Super Swerte who emerged winner by half a length.

The connections of Boss Emong settled for the P800,000 runner-up prize with Union Bell, Greatwall and Pangalusian Island finishing third to fifth places.

In the P1-million 2nd leg of the 2021 Philracom Juvenile Stakes series, Bell Racing's Radio Bell (Sakima out of Radioactive Love) exacted sweet revenge over first leg tormentor Gomezian.
The win gave Radio Bell's connections the P600,000 top prize. Runners-up honors went to Luke Skywalker, Tocque Bell, Money Changer and Arrabiata which came in second to fifth, respectively.

The PSA Cup, on the other hand, was won by Mommy Caring.

"We are very thankful to everyone for a very successful holding of the 2021 Silver Cup , PSA Stakes and 2nd leg of the Juvenile Stakes series. Horseracing is back on its feet so expect more exciting races in the coming days", Philracom Chairman Aurelio "Reli" de Leon said.
