In a virtual press briefing, DepEd Assistant Secretary for Field Operations Malcolm Garma announced the updated list of public schools that will participate in the pilot run starting Nov. 15.

He also shared the recent updates when it comes to the preparation of DepEd both at all levels.

“Almost all participating schools are ready for the pilot study on November 15, 2021,” Garma said. “On the average, most of them are basically on a 90 percent above preparation,” he added.

In less than a week, 100 public schools will hold limited face-to-face classes as part of DepEd’s pilot study. Garma said that the schools that were chosen by DepEd and the Department of Health (DOH) underwent strict assessment and evaluation.

Early this month, DepEd has already completed the list of 100 public schools as part of the 120 schools that will participate in the pilot run.

However, Garma revealed that four out of the 100 that were identified earlier decided to defer their participation in the pilot face-to-face classes.

Based on the updated the list, Garma said that there are 10 schools participating in the pilot run in Region 1; 10 in Region III; five in Region IV-A; nine in the Region V; three in Region VI; eight in Region VII; 10 in Region VII; eight in Region IX; 10 in Region X; eight from Region XI, five in Region XII; and and 14 in Region XIII.

The pilot implementation of limited face-to-face classes will run for two months. In public schools, it will start on Nov. 15 until Jan. 31 based on the timeline released by DepEd.

Meanwhile, DepEd has yet to identify the 20 private schools that will participate in the pilot run scheduled to start on Nov. 22, 2021.

DepEd reiterated that participation in the pilot study will not be mandatory and it will only cover a limited number of students from Kindergarten to Grade 3.

However, DepEd said that it has also directed all public schools to prepare for the limited face-to-face classes once the expansion to other levels has been approved by the government after the pilot study.
