Antipolo fire victims get immediate assistance

The city government of Antipolo immediately gave assistance to the residents whose houses were gutted by fire on Nov. 1 in Sitio Dalisay, Barangay San Isidro.

Mayor Andrea Bautista Ynares personally talked to some 332 individuals during her visit to the evacuation center.

Earlier, Frescian Canlas of the City Social Welfare and Development Office told Manila Bulletin that the fire victims are entitled to cash aid, food and other assistance from the city government.

The local government unit brought to the evacuation center the city’s Mobile Kitchen that serves hot meals to the evacuees; a water purification machine for their drinking water and a customized shower van.

The evacuees, especially those who are jobless, were also offered job placements as part of the aid package of the city government.

Medical assistance was also extended to the fire victims who until now are temporarily housed at San Isidro Elementary School (SES).

Mervin Tortoza, SES principal, told Manila Bulletin that some 24 learners, who are among the fire victims, also received cash and goods donated by their teachers.

Rowel Capoquian, a Grade 6 pupil, told Manila Bulletin that most of his modules were burned during the fire incident.

Tortoza assured the students that the school will provide them with new sets of learning materials.
