San Juan City once again saw a sharp decline in active COVID-19 cases, Mayor Francis Zamora said on Monday, Nov. 8.
"As of today, November 8, San Juan now has only 84 active cases. That is a 93 percent decline from a previous high of 1,123 just last September 16," Zamora said in a Facebook post.
"I enjoin each and every San Juaneño and Filipino to continue following all health and safety protocols for the numbers to go down even lower especially now that Metro Manila is already under Alert Level 2," he added.
Metro Manila was placed under Alert Level 2 on Nov. 5 after a sharp decline in COVID-19 cases attributed to the high number of vaccinated individuals in the region.
Under Alert Level 2, there are no age-based mobility restrictions in Metro Manila. It also allows for an increased capacity for businesses and activities such as restaurant dine-in, beauty salons and the like, and religious activities, among others.
Based on the data from Go Negosyo, the National Capital Region has already vaccinated 89.03 percent of its population as of Nov. 4.
