Navotas City lifts curfew hours for adults

The Navotas City government lifted on Monday, Nov.8, the 12:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. curfew for adults following the implementation of Alert Level 2 quarantine status in Metro Manila.

“Now that more businesses are open and operational hours of malls, restaurants and other establishments are extended, we need to make the necessary changes to support our working constituents,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Tiangco also said that with less restrictions, he hopes people would be encouraged to support local businesses.

However, minors still need to follow the 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. curfew. Violators will be penalized.

According to the local government, for first and second offenses, minors will have to attend counseling sessions conducted by the Barangay Council for the Protection of Children (BCPC). Their parents also need to complete 24 to 48 hours of community service.

For three or more violations, the minor will be turned over to the Social Services Development Department (SSDD) for counseling and proper disposition.

Tiangco reminded the residents, especially the minors, to follow the health and safety protocols as the fight against the dreaded disease is not yet over.

Navotas City was classified "very low risk" for COVID-19 by the OCTA Research Group on Nov. 1 due to its effective implementation of health and safety protocols and low number of active cases.

As of Nov. 7, there were only 18 active cases recorded in the city.
