Marikina will release an ordinance penalizing the establishments that violate the Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) regulations following the implementation of Alert Level 2 in Metro Manila, Mayor Marcy Teodoro said on Monday, Nov. 8.
Noting the surge of visitors at Marikina Riverbanks, Teodoro said during a DZMM Teleradyo interview that the city would release an ordinance within the week to penalize establishments that do not follow the IATF regulations.
“First violation iniisip namin bilang pagbibigay sa mga establishment ay warning muna. At kung mauulit ang paglabag nito ay maaaring pagsuspinde ng kanilang lisensya para sa operasyon (First, we will give these establishments a warning. For repeat offenders, we will suspend their license to operate),” said Teodoro.
He said the ordinance will be enacted in the context of the regulation set by the IATF which dictates that indoor venues can only operate at 50 percent capacity for fully vaccinated adults and minors, while outdoor venues can operate at 70 percent capacity regardless of visitor’s vaccination status.
Under Level 2, inter and intrazonal travel for minors, seniors, and citizens with comorbidities are allowed.
Government offices, public services, and disaster response offices also return to full operational capacity while establishments not listed within the essential bubble set by the IATF can only operate at 50 percent capacity.
