Manila gov't launches Child Protection Handbook

The city government of Manila launched on Monday, Nov. 8, the Child Protection Handbook in line with the celebration of 29th National Children's Month.

Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso and Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan led the launching and were also joined by Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) Director Re Fugoso.

"Ang inyong pamahalaang lungsod ay sumusuporta nang buong-buo sa karapatan at pagtataguyod ng maayos na kinabukasan ng mga bata (The city government of Manila fully supports the rights and advocay for the children's great future)," Domagoso said.

The book aims to give the social workers, barangay officials, and police the right knowledge on how to handle rescue operations and child case management.

The local chief executive also assured the parents that the city government will continue to protect their children through mass vaccination that started on Oct. 22.

About 25,497 minors aged 12 to 17 in the city have already received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Sunday, Nov. 7.

"So sa mga magulang, lolo't lola, huwag kayong mag-alala, basta ang inyong mga apo, mga anak, ay amin ring proproteksyunan laban sa COVID-19 (To all grandfathers and grandmothers, don't worry. We will protect your grandchildren, your children against COVID-19)," he said.

The city government also recognized the winners of the poster-making contest. It also opened the art exhibit of children at the Manila City Hall.
