Robredo camp urges Comelec to adopt safeguards on F2 Logistics election contract
The camp of Vice President Leni Robredo told the Commission on Elections (Comelec) not to be offended by the doubts over the poll body's partnership with F2 Logistics for the May 2022 elections, saying it must ensure that safeguards are implemented.

"'Wag masamain na may mga tao na nagtatanong kasi siyempre ang gusto ng mga tao walang bahid, walang duda, klaro na magiging malinis at maayos ang eleksyon (Don't be offended that there are people questioning it because they only want unstained, no doubts, and clear that the elections will be clean)," Lawyer Barry Gutierrez, Robredo's spokesman, said on Sunday, Nov. 11, during a radio show.
Gutierrez was talking about the recent Comelec's awarding of contract to the logistics company for the transport of election equipment, supplies, and paraphernalia to be used in the next national elections.
The spokesman said it's only natural that the public would cast doubts over the partnership as F2 Logistics is said to be connected with businessman and President Duterte campaign donor Dennis Uy.
The Comelec, however, has already made a statement ensuring the public that there "was no ground to say there was a conflict of interest" on the over P500 million deal with the logistics firm.
Gutierrez stressed that safeguards must be enforced to ensure the credibility of the closed deal.
"Kaya kailangan talaga dito yung mga nagtatanong ay mabigyan ng malinaw na sagot at yung hinihingi nilang mga safeguard ay maibigay at mapaliwanag sa kanila kasi yun ang habol natin dito (What we really need here are clear answers and the safeguards that the public is asking for must be enforced and explained)," Robredo's spokesman said.
"Lahat tayo nagkakaisa na kailangan maging malinis ang election, walang bahid ng duda, walang pagkakataon na magkaroon ng manipulasyon dito sa prosesong ito. Yun ang binabantayan natin lahat dito. Sana ma maintindihan ng Comelec yun sana tugunan nila yun (We are one in hoping for a clean elections where no chances of manipulation can happen. That is what we are aspiring for. We hope the Comelec can respond on this)," he added.
