Marcos: Relaxed alert level in NCR will restore economy

Presidential aspirant and and Partido Federal ng Pilipinas standard-bearer Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr., said that placing the National Capital Region (NCR) in Alert Level 2 status will help restore the economy and create more jobs.

Marcos, in a statement, said it was his earlier call to the government to open businesses to help the country's economy to recover.

“Nagpapasalamat po tayo sa pamahalaan sa mas maluwag na alert level status dahil nakasisiguro tayo na mas marami itong make-create na trabaho at muli nang makakabawi ang ating ekonomiya (I thank the government for the more relaxed alert level status because this will ensure that we will be able to create more jobs and help our economy recover),” said Marcos who noted that the country’s unemployment rate rose to 8.9 percent in September 2021, which is considered the highest this year.

“Umaasa tayo na marami pang negosyo ang magbubukas dahil sa maluwag na alert status at mas marami ang lumalabas na tao para tangkilikin ang mga negosyo (I'm hoping that more businesses will open because of the relaxed alert status and more people will go out to patronize these businesses).”

The former lawmaker also called on the public to continue following health and safety protocols despite the relaxed alert status in the country. He added that the public should not be complacent even though the number of active Covid-19 cases continue to drop.

“Let us go on with our lives, but let us still wear our face masks, let us always wash our hands and follow the health standard of our government. Let's fight Covid-19 together,” Marcos said.

The former Ilocos Norte governor also reminded the government to continue strengthening public vaccination because it is an effective way to stop the virus.

Based on the latest Department of Health (DOH) report, more than 63 million people have been vaccinated nationwide. Currently, more than 600,000 people are inoculated every day and it is on track of its target of one million people per day.

“Matagal na po kaming kaisa ng pamahalaan at nang nakararami na itong pagbabakuna ang pinakamatibay nating sandata laban sa Covid (We have long been one with the government and with more vaccination we have a strong weapon against Covid),” the former senator said. (Melvin Sarangay)
