Presidential aspirants urged to bare plans to address unemployment woes
Presidential aspirants in the May 2022 elections were urged to provide concrete solutions to address unemployment in the country amid the ongoing pandemic.

Bayan Secretary-General Renato Reyes Jr. said many Filipinos have lost their jobs during the months of August to September this year due to the lockdowns imposed as part of the measures to curb the spread of coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“Mahalaga at dapat sagutin ng bawat kandidato sa pagkapangulo ngayon kung paano lulutasin ang malawakang unemployment (It is important that every presidential candidate must answer today how they would solve widespread unemployment),” Reyes said in a tweet.
“Bukod sa pagwawakas ng mga lockdown, paano ibabalik ang mga trabaho lalo na sa sector ng agrikultura at manupaktura kung saan pinakamalaki ang job losses (Aside from ending lockdowns, how to restore jobs especially in the agricultural and manufacturing sector where job losses are high),” he added.
The Philippine Statistics Authority reported on Nov. 4, that unemployed individuals in the country rose to 4.25 million in September from 3.88 million in the previous month, resulting in an unemployment rate of 8.9 percent.
Likewise, the Bayan official asked the presidential aspirants for their plans on how to boost local economy, and how much funding will the government allocate to help sectors affected by the pandemic.
“Ang pandemya at ekonomiya ang dalawang isyung titimbangin ng mga botante sa darating na 2022 (Pandemic and the economy are the two issues voters will weigh in the coming 2022),” he said.
“Kailangan ng mga kongkretong solusyon sa mga kongkretong problema ng bayan (Concrete solutions are needed to address the concrete problems of the country,” he added.
