Alapag marks first NBA G League win as Stockton Kings assistant coach


Jimmy Alapag opened his NBA G League coaching stint with a win as the Stockton Kings routed the Santa Cruz Warriors, 112-97, Friday, Nov. 5 (Saturday in Manila) at the Kaiser Permanente Arena in California.

Alapag, joining head coach Bobby Jackson, helped the Kings capture its first win of the season with Louis King leading the squad with 33 points on 11-of-13 shooting from the field including five three-pointers to go with seven rebounds and four assists.

Neemias Queta and Jahmi'us Ramsey also scored 24 and 21 points respectively.

Alapag was part of the Sacramento Kings squad that ruled the 2021 NBA Summer League last August which paved the way for the Philippine basketball great to earn a coaching role with Stockton.

The 43-year-old Alapag had a prior coaching experience with Alab Pilipinas in the ASEAN Basketball League.

Alapag decided to leave the country with his family in the hopes of getting more experience and coaching opportunities overseas.

Stockton will face Santa Cruz anew Saturday, Nov. 6 (Sunday in Manila) at the same venue.
