The Tingog Partylist on Friday, Nov. 5 lauded the decision of the House of Representatives to increase by P10 billion next year’s allocation for the implementation of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program amid the rise in unemployment in the country.
Tingog Partylist nominee and popular actress-singer Karla “Mamshie” Estrada said the additional P10 billion for the 2022 TUPAD program will help ensure that more displaced Filipinos will get much-needed help from government.
On Wednesday, Estrada addressed 200 TUPAD beneficiaries, urging them to make good use of government’s assistance.
Estrada, mother of actor and recording artist Daniel Padilla, underscored the importance for the beneficiaries of the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DoLE) program under the leadership of Sec. Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III to effectively use the cash aid to gradually recover from the adverse economic impacts of the coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic.
She also expressed Tingog’s deep gratitude to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello iii for the trust and confidence entrusted to the party-list group led by Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez, chairperson of the House Committee on the Welfare of Children.
She stressed that Tingog has been always the government’s major partner in mitigating the impact of the pandemic and prevent further serious disruption in the delivery of help to the most vulnerable sector.
Meanwhile, Romualdez was cited by the local government of Hilongos, Leyte for for championing the welfare and interests of the people in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
` Hilongos Mayor Albert Villahermosa also lauded Estrada for actively assisting them in implementing social protection projects, programs and services to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 to the community and his constituents.
The Tingog Party-list partnered with the Department of Health (DoH) and Hilongos’ local government unit (LGU) led by Villahermosa in providing free meal for 1,000 persons who were given COVID-19 jabs at Brgy. Western Poblacion here.
During the event, Estrada turned over 10 brand new wheelchairs to the physically impaired beneficiaries here to boost their morale.
Villahermosa lauded Tingog’s unselfishness in providing the needed assistance to Hilongos as pandemic continues to unleash its negative impact to the livelihood of the people.
“In grateful recognition of the meritorious service and generous support accorded to the municipality of Hilongos. In the successful conduct of feeding program and the turnover of ten wheelchairs,” Villahermosa said in the certificate of appreciation that Estrada received in behalf of Tingog Party-list group.
