Robredo says opposition not behind disqualification complaints vs Bongbong Marcos

Vice President and Presidential aspirant Leni Robredo said on Friday, Nov. 5, that the opposition is not behind the disqualification petitions pursued against opponent Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

"It doesn't make sense," Robredo said during a press briefing in Negros Occidental when sought for reaction on claims pointing to opposition over the petition for Marcos' disqualification and cancellation of certificate of candidacy.

The opposition leader stressed that it is not their goal and there is actually no need for it.

"Kung gusto namin siyang ipa-disqualify dapat sana noong laban pa namin ng VP (If we want him to be disqualified, we should have made the move during our bid for the Vice Presidency)," Robredo said.

"Saka kung ang purpose ng disqualification para maalis siya sa contest na 'to, hindi naman kailangan. Naglaban na kami noong 2016, nanalo naman kami na walang ganyan (And if the purpose of the disqualification is to keep him out from this contest, there is no need for that. We have faced each other in 2016 and we won without it)," the Vice President added.

Robredo visited Negros Occidental for the signing of a memorandum enhancing her office's partnership with Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City. She was welcomed by her supporters through a stationary caravan from the airport. She later met with sectoral representatives of various people’s organizations, political parties, and support groups.
