Robredo gets support from doctors, religious groups in Negros Occidental

Medical professionals and religious groups in Negros Occidental expressed their support for Vice President Leni Robredo's presidential bid during the latter's visit in the province on Friday, Nov. 5.

The Negros Doctors For Leni, Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Bacolod City, and Scholasticans for Leni-Negros have pledged their support to the opposition leader's bid for presidency in the 2022 elections.

Through a manifesto, Negros Doctors for Leni conveyed their support for Robredo whom they dubbed as "our beacon of hope" amid the extraordinary times in the history of the country.

"In this uncertain atmosphere, we see in the candidacy of our Vice President Leni Robredo as our beacon of hope. We see her leadership as a source of light to end this dark situation," the group of doctors stated.

The group emphasized Robredo's efforts in reaching out to the marginalized and "steered the country to better status even with limited funds."

"VP Leni is the representation of an ordinary Filipino who lives a simple life who has been called to serve. Despite the odds she has experienced, she never wavered in all these challenges. She quietly navigated around meager resources, being proactive to help those who are in dire need. She stayed focused on her job and managed to inspire those who have worked with her to move on," the frontliners said.

"VP Leni is, without doubt, the candidate we will support to become the next president of the Philippines as she is the person who could bring unity amidst our diversity," they expressed.

The Missionary Benedictine Sisters of Bacolod City and Scholasticans for Leni-Negros, who joined the Negros-wide stationary caravan for Robredo as she arrived in Negros, also made a statement of support for the presidential aspirant.

"Robredo is among the top contenders for the highest office in the upcoming Philippine election 2022. Among the many candidates for presidency, her decision was founded upon the call of the people for her to run due to her remarkable track record as vice president; especially during the COVID-19 pandemic," the religious groups said in a statement.

They further said that Robredo "has won the hearts of her supporters, including a community of Scholasticans all around the country who believe Robredo's passion to serve and radical love towards the Filipino people is a complete reflection of the Benedictine values of being grounded in love and being animated by it."

They then pledged their full and unwavering support to Robredo and her bid.
