OCTA: Metro Manila's average daily COVID cases fall below 500 for first time since early February

The seven-day average of new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Metro Manila is down to less than 500 for the first time since February 18, independent research group OCTA said on Friday, Nov. 5.
In an update via Twitter, OCTA research fellow Dr. Guido David said Metro Manila had a seven-day average of 493 new COVID-19 cases from Oct. 29 to Nov. 4.
"The last time the seven-day average was below 500 was on Feb. 18, 2021. We not only reversed the Delta surge, we are already at the February pre-surge level," David pointed out.
The continuous decline in the number of new cases is also reflected in the decreasing reproduction number or infection rate.
David said the reproduction number in Metro Manila is currently at 0.40 from 0.50 a week ago.
Reproduction number refers to the average number of secondary infections by each infected individual.
