Young donor chips in P200 worth of crumpled bills to Robredo's poll campaign

Presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo shared her touching experience with a supporter's child who contributed a humble amount to her upcoming election campaign during a visit in Tarlac City on Wednesday, Nov. 4.

Robredo said in a Facebook post that she was approached by an unidentified woman after speaking in an event with local supporters.

“After my speech onstage, a lot of people came up to have their pictures taken. Biglang may kumuha sa kamay ko at may nilagay (Suddenly someone took my hand and gave me something),” she narrated.

“Tinanong ko yung babae kung ano ‘yun. Sabi niya, ‘pinapabigay po ng anak ko. Baon niya po ‘yan sa school pero binilin niya sa akin na ibigay sayo kasi gusto niyang makatulong (I asked the woman what is it. She replied, ‘My child asked me to give it to you. That is his/her allowance in school but he/she saved it because he wants to help’),” Robredo continued, quoting the woman.

The Palace hopeful met with local officials and supporters at the KAISA Convention Hall in Tarlac City, where she thanked them for their outpouring of support.

Here, the Tarlaqueños turned the venue into a sea of pink as they wore her political color to express their solidarity with Robredo on her candidacy in the May 2022 polls.

Robredo has been vocal that she doesn’t have the same resources that other candidates have. Not wanting to let her down, her "kakampinks" have launched a crowdfunding campaign for her.

They have printed their own stickers, tarpaulins, t-shirts, and tote bags, among others. Little did she know, young donors--like the one whose mother approached her--are also joining the cause.

“Dahil siksikan, nakita ko kung ano yung binigay niya nung nakasakay na ako sa sasakyan (Because it was crowded, I just saw what he/she gave me when I was already in the vehicle). Crumpled na dalawang (two) P100 bills!" she said.

Robredo said she was “very touched” by the kind gesture of her young supporter.

“Hindi ko nakuha pangalan ng nagbigay. So kung mabasa niyo po ito, pa comment po dito para makapagpasalamat ako ng maayos (I was not able to get your name. So if you read this, comment here so i can properly thank you),” her post read.
