Noveleta, Cavite kicks off pediatric vaccination

NOVELETA, Cavite â€“ The local government unit (LGU) here kicked off its vaccination for minors aged 12 to 17 on Wednesday (Nov. 3).

Fifty minors with comorbidities were inoculated on the first day of pediatric vaccination and the municipal government is set to increase the number of vaccines administered for minors over the next days.

"Hindi namin pwedeng i-todo agad, kumbaga pinakikiramdaman din namin, what are the problems that will arise (We can't accommodate the maximum number right away, we're also trying to pinpoint what are the problems that will arise)," Municipal Health Officer Dr. Maria Hilda C. Bucu said during the event.

Around 1,800 minors have so far registered for vaccination.

"Ngayon po, uunahin natin, eksklusibo sa mga bata na taga-Noveleta. Pero hopefully, pag natapos din natin ito, io-open din natin siya. Welcome yung mga taga-ibang lugar (For now, it's exclusive to Noveleta residents. But hopefully, in due time, we can also open it to minors from other places)," Mayor Dino Reyes-Chua said.

On Oct. 25, the LGU has started accommodating non-resident vaccine applicants to help expedite the attainment of herd immunity in Cavite.
