No reason to be complacent amid lifting of Metro Manila curfew --DOH

Amid the decision to lift the curfew hours in Metro Manila, the Department of Health (DOH) reminded the public to strictly adhere to health protocols to avoid a spike in coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases.
DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said it is possible that cases may rise anew if the public will be complacent.
“That's a possibility. That's why we have emphasized the importance of being mindful at the individual level on the importance of a disciplined compliance to public health standards,” said Duque.
“At the end of the day, this is a war against COVID-19, which is waged at the individual level,” he added.
Duque said that the wearing of face masks and face shields, avoiding crowded places, and frequent handwashing, among others can easily be done.
“These are very practicable. Hindi kailangan gumastos dito ng malaki para dito (You don’t need to spend much on these). You have to be smart. With these non pharmaceutical measures, we can win the war against COVID-19,” he said.
Adherence to minimum public health standards and vaccination are equally important.
“This is not sophisticated. Just being mindful and disciplined. We owe it to ourselves, families, and communities not to be spreaders of COVID-19,” said Duque.
The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on Wednesday, Nov. 3, that all mayors in Metro Manila have agreed to lift the curfew hours in the region starting Thursday, Nov. 4.
