Mayor Tiangco cites factors that make Navotas 'very low risk' for COVID-19
Navotas City is now classified “very low risk” for COVID-19 due to its efficient vaccination program, strict implementation of health and safety protocols, and contact tracing system, Mayor Toby Tiangco said on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
The OCTA Research Group on Monday, Nov.1, released a report that classified Metro Manila and all 17 local government units (LGU) as low risk for the coronavirus disease. Among the LGUs, Navotas City is the only one tagged as "very low risk."
He said one of the factors that brought the city to “very low risk” level is its vaccination program, followed by the constant reminder to residents to wear face masks even after their immunization.
"Number three, 'yung mabilis na pag-contact trace... at pag-test kaagad nung mga close contact (Number three, the quick contact tracing and the immediate testing of the close contacts),” he added.
The local government has listed 30 active cases in the city as of Nov.3, which is lower than the 33 cases recorded in February.
Tiangco encouraged the residents not to be negligent in observing health and safety protocols to maintain the downward trend of the cases.
As of Nov. 3, Navotas has 17,576 COVID-19 cases, 17,004 of them (96.7%) have already recovered.
