Mayor Isko to push for creation of clean energy infra once COVID-19 pandemic ends

As soon as the country recovers from the coronavirus pandemic, presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Wednesday, Nov. 3, said he would push for the construction of infrastructure for clean and renewable energy.

“Magproduce tayo ng marami pang kuryente na di nakabase sa coal, na di nakabase sa krudo. Marami namang mga geothermal. Marami namang mga dam na pwedeng i-build. (We will produce more electricity that is not based on coal, not based on crude oil. There are many geothermal ones. There are many dams that can be built). Clean energy. Solar energy,” he said.
Domagoso said he will pursue the construction of solar, hydroelectric, and geothermal energy infrastructure if he is elected as the country's next president.
He also backed calls to slash taxes on crude oil and said that oil-dependent power will only be temporary.
“As we build this in the long term, yung immediate, maitawid yung pamumuhay ng tao, yung maitawid lang sa kabilang ilog. Pansamantala lang naman ang lahat ng ito (As we build this in the long term, the immediate, life of the people can already be managed, all of this is only temporary),” Domagoso said.
The Manila mayor assured that once the country recovers from the pandemic, everything can go back to normal.
“Pero sa ngayon, kailangan yung bangka wag mabutas. Kasi nasa isang bangka lang tayo (For now, the boat must not sink because we are all in one boat)."
