A hit-and-run suspect was chased and beaten up by a group of bystanders, leading to his arrest in Barangay Bagbag, Novaliches, Quezon City, on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
Police Lt. Col Manny Siniguan, chief of Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Traffic Enforcement Unit, identified the suspect as Ernest Christian Randrup, 46, a resident of Cainta, Rizal.

According to the police, Randrup was driving along Quirino Highway when the left side of his vehicle accidentally hit the right side portion of a taxi at the corner of Kingspoint Drive at around 7:00 p.m.
Adrian Beoncio, a traffic enforcer from Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), tried to stop the suspect.
However, Randrup escaped hitting the officer and his motorcycle.
"Tumigil naman po siya, ang problema po, itong taong baayan po inararo po siya ng bato at suntok, e di inawat ko. Pag-awat ko sinagasaan naman po ako (He stopped, but the problem is the bystanders threw stones and punched him, so I tried to pacify them. While I'm trying to stop them, he ran over me)," Beoncio said in an interview with One PH.
The police said Randrup tested positive for alcohol use during a test conducted by Land Transportation Office (LTO) personnel.
The taxi driver was not hurt, while Beoncio sustained minor injuries and was given immediate medical attention.
The suspect will be charged with reckless imprudence resulting in damage to property with physical injury and violation of Republic Act 10586 or the Anti-Drunk Driving Act of 2013.
