The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is eyeing faulty electrical wiring as one of the possible reasons in the fire that hit Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Health Office blaze where over 148,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses were destroyed.
BFP Region 9 Director Senior Supt. Renato Marcial said they are not discounting the possibility of electrical faulty wiring as the cause of the fire which started in the stockroom located at the basement of the building.
The Provincial Government Complex also houses the offices of the Department of Health, Integrated Provincial Health, Philippine National Red Cross and Zamboanga del Sur Medical Center Maintenance Department.
The fire that hit the Provincial Health office located in Pagadian City on Oct. 31 damaged more than 148,000 doses of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccines of different brands.
Fire investigators estimated that the damage to property in the fire incident is at P1.5 million.
The DILG said that it will determine if Zamboanga del Sur provincial government committed lapses that resulted in the wastage of the vaccines.
