
The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday logged 1,766 new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
This is the second straight day that the Philippines recorded less than 2,000 cases.
In its latest case bulletin, the DOH said that the number of active infections in the country stood at 37,159.
Of the active cases, 68.9 percent have mild symptoms, 5.3 percent were asymptomatic, 3.5 percent were critical, 8.2 percent were severe, and 14.11 percent were in moderate condition.
The total number of confirmed cases in the country since last year is now at 2,795,642.
Also, there were 2,591 new recoveries, pushing the total tally to 2,714,658. However, the death toll increased to 43,825 with 239 new deaths.
The DOH noted that “22 duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, 17 are recoveries.”
“Moreover, 214 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” it said.
