Rama's party remains firm in backing Digong's prexy bet

CEBU CITY — The camp of City Mayor Michael Rama will support the presidential candidate that will be endorsed by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Rama, who is seeking reelection in next year’s elections, gave this assurance after Senator Bong Go decided to withdraw from the presidential race.

Rama’s Partido Barug has already committed to support Go’s presidential bid.

“Where the President will be, much less where Bong Go will be, that’s where we should also be,” said Rama.

While they still have to wait the President’s decision for his presidential bet, Rama made it clear that Partido Barug will be for Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for the vice presidential race.

Rama said he understood Go’s decision to back out from the presidential derby.

“Such move. I know he had an ordeal in having to deal with it but he has to cross the Rubicon and we have to respect and not only respect, we should commend him for what he did,” Rama said.
