Paranaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez led the lighting of the giant Christmas tree at the City Hall grounds on Monday, Nov. 29, a symbol of hope for the city as it slowly recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Olivarez said placing decorative lanterns all over the city is the city's way of thanking the fronliners and other workers for their dedication in helping the city government bring down COVID-19 cases to 46.
He said a note bearing the message “maraming, maraming salamat sa inyo” (thank you to all) was also placed in the lanterns to show the city’ gratitude to the pandemic heroes.
The mayor said the city government "is seeing the light and hope" with five out of 16 barangays in the city already recording zero COVID-19 case.
Olivarez said three barangays recorded one case each while the rest recorded single-digit case.
He said the participation of city residents in the Bayanihan, Bakunahan vaccination campaign from Nov. 29 to Dec. is also very important for the city government to record single-digit case.
