Navotas City starts rollout of COVID-19 booster shots to senior citizens, persons with comorbidities

The Navotas City government has started the COVID-19 booster shots rollout for individuals under the A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with comorbidities) categories on Monday, Nov.29.

“We need to expedite the rollout of boosters to our most vulnerable sectors, especially now that we are faced with the threat of another COVID-19 variant,” Mayor Toby Tiangco said.

Patients with cancer, human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), immunodeficiency, and those who underwent organ transplants and take immunosuppressive drugs are qualified to receive the Pfizer vaccine.

They will need to set an appointment at https://covax.navotas.gov.ph/ to receive the booster jab.

Those who prefer AstraZeneca or Coronavac may walk in at any vaccination site administering the said brands.

“We asked and we received permission from the National Vaccine Operations Center to use Sinovac for all our A3 constituents regardless of their types of comorbidities. As for Astrazeneca, it was the city government who purchased the vaccines so we will give them to our A3 population,” Tiangco said.

The booster shots rollout is in line with the three-day Bayanihan, Bakunahan National Vaccination drive which is ongoing until Dec.1.

The city government also provides free transportation to and from the vaccination sites for seniors and persons with disability
