Pasay City gov't starts 'Vacc to the Future' vaccination for general pediatric population

The Pasay City government started the “Vacc to the Future” vaccination of minors aged 12 to 17 years old on Wednesday (Nov. 3) at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said around 500 to 700 students from private schools and out-of-school youths (OSYs) were scheduled to receive the Pfizer vaccines.

Rubiano said the inoculation at the Cuneta Astrodome of students from private schools and OSYs will be held for two days.

She said on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 5 and 6), the vaccination for public school students numbering around 32,000 will be held at the MOA Giga vaccination site and at Resort World.

Dr. Malou Ocampo, head of the pediatric department of the Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) said they are targeting to inoculate around 3,000 public school students per day.

Ocampo said the inoculation of minors, which started on Oct. 22 for the PA3 category or minors with comorbidities, has not recorded any adverse effect.

She said from Oct. 22 to 30, the city already vaccinated 496 minors with comorbidities with Pfizer at the city-run public hospital, PCGH.

Rubiano said a town hall meeting was conducted by the city government and doctors from the City Health Office (CHO) and the PCGH with the parents and guardians of minors last Saturday on the importance of having their children vaccinated against COVID-19.
