Paranaque City begins vaccination of general pediatric population

The Paranaque City government officially launched the vaccination of the general pediatric population aged 12 to 17 years old at the SM Sucat on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez reported to the city’s “Big Brother” -- National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementer Sec. Carlito Galvez -- that the city government is targeting to inoculate around 60,000 to 70,000 minors aged 12 to 17 years old in the city.

Olivarez said the city government partnered with SM Sucat, SM BF, Ayala Malls and the Nayong Pilipino Foundation for the conduct of vaccination of the general pediatric population.

He said the city government aims to finish the vaccination of all children and students studying in the city by November.

The mayor also thanked the SM group of companies for bringing famous super heroes characters,“Iron Man and Transformer Optimus Prime, during the official launching of vaccination of the general pediatric population with the theme -- “ Bida Rin Ang Bata!” to lighten the mood of the children set to receive the vaccines against COVID-19.

The city government started the “Bakunahan Para sa YO (young ones) at the Ospital ng Paranaque (OSPAR) on Oct. 22 for children belonging to the A3 category or those with comorbidities.

Olivarez said 80 children with comorbidities received the Pfizer vaccines and was administered by OSPAR 1 & 2 medical director Dr. Jefferson Pagsisihan.

The mayor also announced that the city government will continue to conduct the inoculation of the adult population even if the city has already reached 110 percent of those who have received first dose of vaccines, and 95 percent who were already fully vaccinated, from the target 70 percent of the 744,000 population.

Olivarez said he wants all city residents and those working in the city to receive their vaccines, especially those who are bed-ridden and the senior citizens.

He said the city government is already conducting house-to-house visits to senior citizens and sick residents for their inoculation.
