Lubang still at 'critical risk', La Trinidad, Dumaguete at 'high risk' for COVID-19 -- OCTA

The surge of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in Lubang, Occidental Mindoro may have already reached its peak but the municipality remains under "critical risk" classification, independent research group OCTA said in its update on Wednesday, Nov. 3.

Based on its monitoring from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2, OCTA observed that Lubang's COVID-19 reproduction number (1.41), average daily attack rate or ADAR (170 cases per 100,000), and testing positivity rate (44 percent) are still within the critical level, based on the United States' non-profit Covid Act Now model.

OCTA pointed out that this may not reflect the alert level rating used by the Department of Health and the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases or IATF.

Moreover, the research group said that La Trinidad in Benguet and Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental are still at "high risk" for COVID-19 due to "high ADAR (16.43 and 15.31, respectively), high healthcare utilization rate (both at 81 percent), and at least high testing positivity rate (19 percent and 26 percent, respectively)."

COVID-19 risk levels in other areas are now "low," particularly in Davao City and Antipolo City.

Meanwhile, risk levels in Zamboanga City, Baguio City, Bacolod City, General Santos City, Tuguegarao City, Puerto Princesa City, and Tagum City are at "moderate risk."
