DOST signs S&T partnership pact with Singapore Cooperation Enterprise

The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Singapore Cooperation Enterprise (SCE) to pursue scientific and technological cooperation on water and waste management, food safety and security, aquaculture, and digital governance.

The MOU was signed between DOST Secretary Fortunato T. de la Pena and SCE Chief Executive Officer Kong Wy Mun on Oct. 25.

“Under the MOU, both DOST and SCE commit to carry out joint scientific and technological activities with relevant public sector and/or private enterprises on the areas of water and waste management, food safety and security, aquaculture, digital governance; and other areas that DOST and SCE may mutually agree on,” de la Peña said.

He noted that the SCE serves as the single window for collaboration and partnerships of Singapore with foreign governments to generate economic spin-offs from the country’s private sector.

De la Peña said the MOU signing showed the keen interest of both parties to promote scientific and technological cooperation after the initial dialogue between the DOST and the Singaporean government agency in April.

Ambassador Joseph del Mar Yap of the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and Ambassador Gerard Ho Wei Hong of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in the Philippines joined the virtual signing ceremony.
