Roughly 30 percent of the local government units (LGUs) failed to consistently and expeditiously submit the required vaccination operation reports, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año said in a news briefing aired on Wednesday, Nov. 3.
In his report to President Duterte, Año noted the 10 million gap of entries in the government’s coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) vaccination record with some localities failing to meet the 6 a.m. deadline for the submission.
He explained that the LGUs are mandated to submit their vaccination operations reporting system data daily.
“May nakikita pa po tayong 10 million na line entry gap na kailangan mapasok sa database (We're still seeing 10 million line entry gap that needs to be entered in the database),’’ Año said.
With these circumstances, Año emphasized the need for the LGUs to have a senior database officer that will ensure their compliance with the requirement of submitting the vaccination line lists.
The data is the source for the information that will be used for individual level records, vaccination certification and basis for validation and audit.
Meanwhile, Año reported that 2,664 drug personalities were arrested in the 1,895 operations conducted by the anti-narcotics authorities from Oct. 18 to 30.
In the same period, the anti-drug operations also netted seven deaths while 66 suspects voluntarily surrendered to authorities.
The 12-day operation resulted in the recovery of 12 kilograms of shabu, 610.6 kilograms of marijuana, 25 tablets of ecstasy and a kilogram of cocaine all worth P155,348,296.32.
Despite the rise in the number of community health protocol violators, Año vowed that the government will continue to carry out the enforcement of the said guidelines with the restrictions being gradually eased.
The DILG chief noted that 4,870 mass gathering violations, 75,078 physical distancing infractions and 168,863 face shield miscues were recorded all over the country. (Chito A. Chavez)
