A total of 15 universities in the country was listed among the best higher education institutions (HEI) in Asia in the 2022 university rankings of global higher education think-tank Quacquarelli Symonds (QS).

An additional university made the cut this year, compared to last year's turnout of 14. University of the Philippines (UP) remains to be the country's highest ranked university at 77th place, a spot lower from last year's ranking of 69th.

This is then followed by Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), De La Salle University (DLSU), and University of Santo Tomas (UST) out of 687 institutions.

While UP fell off some spots from last year, ADMU, DLSU, and UST climbed to a much higher rank.

According to its website, the QS Asia University Rankings, which is published annually since 2009, highlights the top universities in Asia each year.

They make11 indicators to identify the list which includes Academic reputation (30 percent); Employer reputation (20 percent); Faculty/student ratio (10 percent); International research network (10 percent); Citations per paper (10 percent) and papers per faculty (5 percent).
