The Valenzuela City government on Monday conducted a dry run of face-to-face classes at Tagalag Elementary School and Disiplina Village Elementary School.
This was after President Duterte approved the pilot implementation of face-to-face classes.
In his Facebook post, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said they recommended the two schools for the limited face-to-face classes that they plan to start on Dec.6.
He explained that they have chosen only two schools for the conduct of face-to-face classes since it is limited to Kinder to Grade 3, and only 16 to 17 students are allowed in the classroom.
"Hindi din naman ito compulsory...Voluntary pa rin at dapat may parent's consent (It is also not compulsory... It is still voluntary and must have parent's consent)," Gatchalian clarified after receiving different reactions on social media.
The city mayor also said that parents may still choose distance learning if they are not comfortable sending their children physically to school.
" Kung ayaw po ninyo papasukin anak ninyo sa face-to-face, you can go with the distance learning pa rin at mag modules po kayo (If you don't want to let your child join the face-to-face classes, you can still go with distance learning and do modules)," he said.
