Team Dasma Monarchs outlast Global Remit in Champs League

Team Dasma Monarchs outlasted Global Remit, 23-25, 25-18, 27-29, 25-18, 15-12, to open their title bid with a bang in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) Champions League for Men at the Aquamarine Recreational Center in Lipa City, Batangas Monday night.

The Monarchs banked on their sturdy net defense anchored on Jayvee Sumagaysay and Mark Frederick Calado to join Go for Gold-Air Force Aguilas and MRT Negros Spikers in the winning column.

Sumagaysay and Calado combined for nine of the team’s 16 blocks as the Monarchs needed two hours and 14 minutes in edging Global Remit.

Calado erupted for 24 points including 20 kills while offensive help also came from Madzlan Gampong, who also exploded at the attack area with 20 hits for 23 points.

Sumagaysay, for his part, finished with 11 points even as Manuel Medina and Ronniel Rosales chipped in 10 points each.

Team Dasma’s triumph overshadowed the efforts of Joeven Dela Vega, who pumped in 24 points for Global Remit.
