MIAA opens NAIA Terminal 4 for 3-day COVID vaccination drive

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has allowed the use of a portion of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 4 as a vaccination site in support of the government's three-day vaccination drive against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"We acceded to the request of the Bureau of Quarantine to allow the use of NAIA Terminal 4 (old domestic airport) as a vaccination site on the 29th until December 1. We are part of the DOTr (Department of Transportation) family headed by Sec. Arthur Tugade, give our 100 percent support to this national program,," said MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal.thre

Dubbed as "Bayanihan, Bakunahan," the 3-day vaccination drive aims to vaccinate 15 million Filipinos and started on Monday, Nov. 29.
Roberto Salvador, deputy director of the DOH-Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), will take the lead in the 3-day event in collaboration with One Stop Shop (OSS) agencies. A composite team of medical practitioners from OSS agencies headed by the Bureau of Quarantine, will man the pre-screening, screening, vaccination and post-vaccination stations.

The event is open to airport agencies, OSS member agencies and their family members who are unvaccinated adults and children from 12 to 17 years old. The administration of 3rd vaccine doses to the A1 to A3 population will also be done. The Bureau of Quarantine is expecting 1,000 people to be vaccinated per day.

To ensure a smooth implementation of the vaccination drive, a unified security plan will be jointly crafted by the MIAA security department, the OTS and the Philippine National Police.

Meanwhile, Monreal said NAIA established health and safety measures like use of face masks and social distancing, among others, will be strictly enforced during the event.

He added that everyone will be required to submit themselves and their belongings to security inspection, especially inside the terminal building.
