400 indigents in Cebu benefit from PCUP’s ‘mini caravan’

At least 400 individuals from Toledo City in Cebu have benefitted from the services and programs of government and private agencies through the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor’s (PCUP) mini caravan on Friday, Nov. 26.

"Ang aktibidad ay naging matagumpay dahil sa patuloy na pakikipag-ugnayan ng Komisyon sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaan at private companies na walang sawang nagpapaabot ng suporta upang makapaghatid ng de kalidad at angkop na mga serbisyo sa mga maralitang tagalungsod sa iba’t-ibang panig ng bansa (The activity has been successful due to the Commission’s continued engagement with government agencies and private companies that tirelessly extend support to deliver quality and appropriate services to the urban poor in various parts of the country)," said PCUP Chairperson and CEO, Undersecretary Alvin S. Feliciano.

Among the services offered in PCUP’s mini caravan were the issuance of NBI Clearance by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI); free medicines, free vitamins, blood cholesterol test, and dental kits from the Department of Health (DOH), and national ID registration carried out by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

Orientation on livelihood programs was also conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) while Application of Student Permit, Renewal of Drivers License and Renewal of Motor Vehicles were offered by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Other services include free haircuts by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), job employment by Public Employment Services Office (PESO), scholarship programs from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and free business counseling, business name registration, business consultancy, and access financial loan by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Furthermore, free legal counseling was also offered by the Public Attorney’s Office (PAO), while Toledo City LGU (local government unit) officers provided assistance for the people.
