QC gov't targets to inoculate 150,000 individuals in 3-day vaccination drive
The local government of Quezon City is targeting to vaccinate 150,000 individuals against COVID-19 during the three-day national vaccination drive from Nov. 28- Dec. 1.
“It’s all systems go for Quezon City. We have tapped groups for additional medical workers and partnered with malls and establishments to have more sites. We want to maximize the three days allocated for this vaccination drive,” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.
Unvaccinated minors aged 12-17, adults, and booster shots for healthcare workers, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities will be prioritized.
The current supply of AstraZeneca vaccines that were procured by the city in 2020 will be used.
Of the 1.1 million doses of AstraZeneca, around 229,000 doses have been received by the city in batches.
“Good thing that we have procured this many vaccines for our QCitizens. While we wait for the supply provided for by the national government, we can use our own vaccines as booster shots,” Belmonte said.
The special vaccination sites will be set up in malls and other commercial establishments during the 3-day vaccination drive, including SM North Edsa Skydome, Eastwood City, Robinsons Magnolia, Waltermart North Edsa, SM Fairview, SM Novaliches, Fairview Terraces, Fisher Mall, Crossroad Parkway Mall, SMART Araneta Coliseum, and Elements at Centris
The Philippine Medical Association will also vaccinate healthcare workers in its office auditorium.
Meanwhile, second doses for pediatric and adult populations will proceed as scheduled in other vaccination sites.
QC Task Force Vax to Normal Adviser Joseph Juico encouraged all residents and non-residents of Quezon City to maximize the chance to get vaccinated in the city.
“Everyone is welcome in QC. Whether you are a resident, a worker, a student, or just a visitor in QC, you may register in our system and receive a vaccine dose comfortably and conveniently in QC,” Juico said.
