Capiz governor: No interference in nephew's rape case

ILOILO CITY – Governor Esteban Evan Contreras II of Capiz province assured that there will be no interference in the rape case faced by his nephew.

“Let the rule of law take its course. I will not meddle,” Contreras told Manila Bulletin in a phone interview.

This was after rape charges were filed against his nephew EJ Conteras Friday, November 26 before the Capiz Provincial Prosecutor’s Office in Roxas City.

“He will have to face the charges himself and the family will not get involved,” Contreras emphasized.

A lady vlogger from Metro Manila allegedly accused EJ of raping her while they were in a drinking session with EJ’s friends late night of November 25 in Pontevedra town.

It was also alleged that the lady vlogger would later report it to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

It was learned that the lady vlogger was in Pontevedra town as a guest for a motorcycle show.

EJ is also running for a seat in the town council of Pontevedra.

The governor is also not discounting that the rape charges may also be politically-motivated.
