The artists who banded together to create the eye-catching mural at the Leni-Kiko volunteer center on Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City on Saturday, Nov. 27, are the best representation of a "people's campaign", presidential aspirant Vice President Leni Robredo said.

Robredo has referred to her election campaign as a people’s campaign, with some political pundits preferring to call it a “pink movement".
Artists poured their time and effort on the mural, particularly the 60-foot mural with Robredo and her running mate Senator Kiko Pangilinan’s images.
The preamble of the Philippine Constitution is written over it, and serves as the centerpiece of the mural.
The artists who made the mural possible are Marganta San Juan, Nathan Sarcia, Reena Gabriel, Ronan Capili, Sam Bumanlag, Didi Lopa, Ina Esquivel, AG Saño, Bet Lazatin, Celine Mercado, Cristina Arrobio, Glendford Lumbao, Albert Raqueño, Gabe Naguiat and Jan Sunday, Kyla Gancayco, Lee Caces, Melissa and Mark Canteras, Ysa Da Silva, Joel Fabonan, Noel Martin, Elena Moran, and members of the group Architects for Leni.
Artist Robert Alejandro also sent in his designs for the execution of other artists. Alejandro was unable to paint because of a personal matter.
The aspiring president called each artist by name and asked them to go up on stage to join her and Pangilinan.
“Sila talaga yung nagrerepresent (They really represent) what this campaign is all about. Itong kampanyang ito (This campaign) isn’t about us. Itong kampanyang ito (This campaign) is about what we can all contribute to make things better,” Robredo said.

Volunteers for her 2022 presidential bid are welcome to the headquarters, and Robredo has even asked them to “Please treat this place as your own.”
She also issued a challenge to the volunteers.
“The challenge is for us to sustain this kind of volunteerism until 2022, to convert more people,” Robredo asked the crowd, which included Viel Aquino-Dee, sister of the late former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, and her campaign manager, Bam Aquino.
Popular singers Noel Cabangon and Bituin Escalante also performed during the event.
Joining them was Senatorial aspirant Chel Diokno, who is running under the Robredo-Pangilinan opposition ticket.

Pangilinan, who was supposed to run for reelection as senator but backed out due to Robredo’s request, said he was humbled by the mural and even compared it to the popular Mount Rushmore.
The volunteer artists made the murals “vibrant, cheerful, and hopeful” because these mirror the “positive vibe" of Robredo and Pangilinan’s tandem.
Alejandro was behind the illustration of the pink floral bus with a call to make the right vote for the youth’s future.
Above that is the 60-foot mural by renowned muralist AG Saño and his team, which were assisted by Lumbao and his team.
It took them almost six nights to finish the murals. The same team was responsible for painting the center’s flooring and the popular “Leni hair flip” on the side of the building.
Esquivel, another volunteer artist, was the one who coordinated with the artist-volunteers.

“Originally when you look at it , you would think, ‘Okay, let’s just paint everything pink’. But sayang naman ‘yung (it’s such a waste of the) area, and it’s not nice to just keep putting up tarpaulins. It doesn’t look as organic,” she said.
That was when Esquivel and her parents, Gerry and Beng, decided to seeks other artists' help in prettying up the space.
“They are each a different interpretation of what the campaign means to the artists,” Esquivel explained.
“What I like about what we made is that as a volunteer center, it was built by volunteers. It wasn’t created just for them. It’s really a way of saying to everyone: ‘Come and join this movement and be part of it in any way that you can’,” she added.

One of the murals has a QR code that links to the poem, “Isang Guhit.”
Robredo thanked her supporters, acknowledging their hard work and sacrifices.
“Ito ‘yung makakatalo sa maraming resources, ito ‘yung makakatalo sa maraming makinarya (This is going to beat those with many resources, this is going to beat those with many machineries),” she said.
