Largest campus in Dagupan City now set for National Vaccination Day

DAGUPAN CITY, Pangasinan — Lyceum-Northwestern University (L-NU), the largest school in Dagupan City, is now ready to receive numerous individuals from all private schools in the city who are set to be jabbed with COVID-19 vaccines come November 29 to December 1 this year.

This is in solidarity with Proclamation No. 1253, otherwise known as the ‘Bayanihan, Bakunahan National COVID-19 Vaccination Days’ on said dates, signed by President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday, November 25.

Dr. Luz Duque-Hammershaimb, university president, says L-NU Dagupan campus will be the primary vaccination hub for all schools affiliated with the Association of Private Schools, Colleges & Universities (APSCU) in Dagupan City.

Aside from doctors from the Dagupan Doctors Villaflor Memorial Hospital, Pangasinan Medical Society, LGU-Dagupan City, and the Department of Health, numerous senior students and faculty members from L-NU’s allied medical courses will lend their hand throughout the vaccination process.

“This is bayanihan. Tulung-tulong lahat, nagvovolunteer lahat”, she said.

With a large and wide space suited for inoculation activity, the university offered to be the site, in reply for the government’s call for Higher Education Institutes (HEI) to become vaccination sites.

This is also one of the university’s way of extending to the community.

Hammershaimb says for the National Vaccination Days, only students, family members, and faculty members of thirty-five APSCU-affiliated schools in Dagupan City may be vaccinated.

The school targets to vaccinate at least 800 individuals per day. However, the school is ready to accept more clients if need be.

In anticipation for the large number of clients to get jabbed, the university is already conducting an online pre-vaccination screening with its registration process.

This, however, still needs to be validated once the client arrives at the university premises.

Individuals who are seeking to get their Covid-19 jabs are required to register here. They will then be given their respective vaccination schedule.

Upon entering the university grounds, individuals must undergo a triage for monitoring and check-up, and proceed to the waiting area nearby. Vaccination will be held at the university gymnasium.

Registered individuals are urged to bring their respective school IDs or enrolment forms, and their own ball pen.

Meanwhile, Hammershaimb says the vaccination roll-out will continue even when the National Vaccination Days are done.

Hammershaimb reveals around 15,000 vials of Covid-19 vaccines have been allotted for them by the National Vaccination Operations Center (NVOC).

“Sabihin na rin natin na preparation na rin ito for the opening of (non-medical) in-person classes soon”, said Hammershaimb.

It could be recalled that Duterte’s proclamation aims to vaccinate 15 million Filipinos throughout the country.

Employees who get their Covid-19 jabs during the said dates will not be marked absent by their employers, provided a proof of vaccination is presented by the employee.
