Escudero affirms Sorsogon's full support for the national vaccination drive

Sorsogon Governor Francis ‘’Chiz’’ Escudero has affirmed the provincial government’s full support for the three-day massive vaccination drive nationwide in accordance with Presidential Proclamation 1253 signed by President Duterte.

This followed his signing of Executive Order 32-2021 which provides guidelines to all local government units (LGUs) in the province on the conduct of activities for the Bakunahan, Bayanihan National COVID-19 Vaccination Days from November 29 to December 1.

During the three-day vaccination campaign, the government is targeting to inoculate some 15 million eligible Filipinos across the country.

“The provincial government of Sorsogon fully supports this endeavor and aims to guide its operation in the province having earlier issued guidelines on the ramping-up of vaccination activities locally,” the governor said in the EO he signed on November 24, 2021.

Escudero, wo is seeking to return to the 24-member Senate under the National People’s Coalition (NPC) banner, directed all mayors to extend full support for the simultaneous vaccination rollout and encourage all government offices, agencies and LGUs to assign and/or allow all of their respective healthcare workers to participate in the event.

According to Escudero, the province is targeting to vaccinate 53,586 Sorsoganons daily from its 14 municipalities and one city during the three-day inoculation campaign.

As of November 23, Sorsogon has vaccinated 60 percent of its target population or equivalent to some 356,433 individuals.

“We will reach 65 percent full vaccination of our population by mid-December since we started getting our ‘fair share’ of vaccines in October, or in less than three months,” Escudero said.

From March 2021, when the vaccine rollout started in Metro Manila, until last September, Sorsogon received 5,000 doses only per month from the national government. However, the province saw an increase in COVID-19 vaccine allocation in October to 50,000 doses every two weeks.
