The Zamboanga siblings, Denice and Drex, are set to return to the Philippines after nearly two years of spending time training in Thailand and fighting in ONE Championship.

Denice, in particular, flew to Thailand prior to the first lockdown in the Philippines last March and she has not been back on Philippine soil since. She was with her brother Drex and their friend Fritz Biagtan.
"Actually, I’m going home on December 1st. I’ll be home in December. All three of us, kuya Drex, Fritz , we’ll be flying back to the Philippines to spend Christmas there. I think it’s time," said Zamboanga in an interview with ONE Championship.
"I just want to reset and re-energize myself. It’s been so long and I miss my family back home. I miss my mom’s home-cooked meals, all the street food, and all my friends. My older sister is going home too, so it’s going to be a family reunion."
Before deciding, the younger Zamboanga was hoping to fight once more before the end of 2021.
Her opponent Alyona Rassohyna said, however, seemed to decline the bout supposedly scheduled Dec. 3.
"Honestly, I just wanted to fight again, so that I could get another one in before Christmas. Another win would have been great. But I think Rassohyna turned the fight down. I’m fully recovered from the injuries I incurred during the Seo Hee Ham fight, so I’m cleared to compete," said Zamboanga, the top-ranked women's strawweight contender.
Since 2020, Zamboanga, who is now with Bangkok-based stable Marrok Force, improved to an 8-1 record.
Her lone loss recently came from Seo Hee Ham of South Korea during the inaugural women's atomweight grand prix in ONE: Empower.

Prior to that, Zamboanga took down Japanese veteran Mei Yamaguchi and Watsapinya Kaewkhong of Thailand.
Drex, for his part, had a successful promotion debut in August last year against Detchadin Sorsirisuphathin with a second-round rear naked choke.
