Manila LGU deploys more COVID-19 booster jabs

As part of its aggressive COVID-19 booster vaccination program, over 20,000 COVID-19 booster shots have been administered to individuals belonging to the A1 (frontliners), A2 (senior citizens), and A3 (persons with comorbidities) in Manila as of Friday, Nov. 26.

A total of 23,872 doses have been deployed to medical frontliners, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

Manila began administering booster shots on Friday, Nov. 19, in its six district hospitals: Sta. Ana Hospital, Ospital ng Maynila, Gat Andres Bonifacio, Justice Jose Abad Santos, Ospital ng Sampaloc, and Ospital ng Tondo.

Ospital ng Tondo Director Dr. Myrna Lacson-Palma urged those who are eligible to receive booster shots to get them as soon as possible, especially medical frontliners, senior citizens, and persons with comorbidities.

"Kailangan natin i-campaign sa ating mga kababayan na ang ating antibodies ay bumababa with time. Ibig sabihin nito habang tumatagal, mas nagiging less ang proteksyon natin sa COVID at mga variant nito. May ilang COVID viruses na nag mumutate sa paglipas ng panahon (We need to let the people know that our antibodies decrease with time. This means we become less immune to COVID and its variants. There are several COVID variants that have mutated over time)," said Palma.

Metro Manila cities have started the deployment of COVID-19 booster shots to the A1, A2, and A3 priority groups.
