Told by the Senate Blue Ribbon committee that he faces an obstruction of justice charge should he continue to keep silent, Mohit Dargani decided to identify his Singaporean friend who chartered in Singapore a Lear jet that would have allowed him and his sister, Twinkle, to fly out of Davao and escape arrest.

After conferring with his lawyer, Dargani identified the plane charterer as Gary Wong, an entrepreneur based in Singapore who agreed to foot the bill because Dargani assured him that he would pay him later.

Dargani had refused to identify this Singaporean friend but was allowed to write his name which was later forwarded to Rodolfo Quimbo, Blue Ribbon committee director-general, who announced Wong’s name as demanded by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

He said he met Wong at a bar in Singapore.

Mohit is the treasurer and corporate secretary of Pharmally Pharmaceutical Corporation which was able to bag more than P10 billion worth of contracts awarded by the Procurement. Service-Department of Budget and Management (PS-DBM) for the delivery of COVID-related medical supplies although the firm had only a paid up capital of P625,000.

Senate Minority Leader Franklin M. Drilon had noted that there was ‘’premeditated plunder’’ at the contracts given out by PS-DBM whose resigned chief, Lloyd Lao, remains at-large despite an arrest warrant issued by the committee.

Mohit snd his sister, Twinkle, Pharmally president, were already aboard the Kuala Lumpur-bound jet at a private hangar in Davao when the plane was stopped by authorities.

The Dargani siblings were then arrested by operatives of the Senate Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms (OSAA).

He appeared emotional when he told the committee that his sister, Twinkle, a summa cum laude graduate, has a deteriorating mental problem.

Senator Richard J. Gordon, committee chairman, asked aloud why Mohit had to give a high-performance Lamborghini as a gift to Twinkle who has a mental problem.

Their mother was also aboard the plane when the two were arrested by OSAA operatives but was left behind in Davao City when the operatives brought the Dargani siblings to the Senate building in Pasay city.

After the Senate committee issued a warrant for his and his sister’s arrest for refusing to cooperate with the committee, Mohit said he and his family went to Davao via land travel that ran through Sorsogon, Leyte and Surigao and down to Davao for two weeks.

Hontiveros asked aloud how come the Darganis had to travel to Davao and not leave the country through the Manila domestic airport.

Dargani estimated that the cost of the chartered flight paid by Wong is from $35,000 to $55,000.

The Darganis are being held at the OSAA and are being asked to submit Pharmacy corporate documents relating to the firm’s PS-DBM contracts as demanded by the Senate Blue Ribbon committee.
