4 injured in multiple vehicular accidents due to slippery road in Mawab, Davao de Oro


DAVAO CITY — Four were injured in three separate vehicular accidents that occurred in the municipality of Mawab, Davao de Oro Thursday noon.

In a phone interview, traffic investigator PSSg Jhunard Delino of the Mawab Philippine National Police (PNP) said based on their investigation, a yellow UD Truck Tractor with a trailer heavy low bed driven by Francisco K. Chua, 51 years old, fell off the cliff after the driver lost control due to slippery road.

The accident occurred at the downhill portion in Kilometer 67 in Barangay Tuboran at 10:30 am.

The police report showed that at 12:10 pm Thursday, a mini Suzuki van heading towards Mawab collided on the same site with a prime mover truck traveling the opposite direction.

The van, bearing plate number KAL 2002, was driven by one Erwin Romel O. Batausa, 35 years old, married, a resident of Purok 3, Barangay Bawani, Mawab, while the prime mover truck with plate number MAV 2849 driven by Roy Paderan, 46 and a resident of Purok San Roque, Labangan, General Santos City.

It said upon reaching the site of the first incident, Paderan "lost control of his vehicle and swerved to the opposite lane and accidentally came into contact with V1 (mini Suzuki van)."

Both drivers incurred slight bodily injuries and were given first aid treatment on site, the police said.

The police added "20 minutes later and a few meters away from the place of incident" two other vehicles collided.

The collision involved a Mitsubishi pick-up with plate number LDL 758 and a Fuso flatbed truck with plate number MFN 179.

The police identified the casualties onboard the pickup as spouses Rolly and Emelita Villamor who "incurred bodily injuries and were immediately transported to Davao Regional Medical Center at Tagum City."

The Pagasa weather bulletin on Thursday showed scattered light to moderate thunderstorms were experienced in the region due to the Intertropical Convergence Zone in Mindanao .
