Mayor Isko says he took voluntary drug test in support of Duterte's drug war

Presidential aspirant and Manila Mayor Francisco "Isko Moreno" Domagoso on Thursday, Nov. 25, said he underwent a voluntary drug test as a way to show his support to the current administration’s war on drugs.

Domagoso and his running mate Dr. Willie Ong tested negative for illegal drugs after submitting themselves for drug testing at the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency's (PDEA) headquarters in Quezon City.

“Ito rin ay isang maliit naming kaparaanan ni Doc Willie na sinusuportahan ang war on drugs ng ating Pangulong Duterte being a candidate. At kung sakali, may awa ang Diyos, sa tulong ninyo, itutuloy natin yung war on drugs (It is also a small way that Doc Willie and I support the war on drugs of our President Duterte being a candidate. And just in case, with God's mercy, and with your help, we will continue the war on drugs)," Domagoso said.

President Duterte had earlier revealed that one of the presidential aspirants in the May 2022 elections has used cocaine.

Domagoso also said the public deserves to know if those running for the highest position in the country have the moral ascendancy to fight the menace of illegal drugs.

“Pag ikaw ay naging president at ang isang mabigat na problema ng lipunan ay droga (When you became a president and one of the problems is drugs), then how can you go against illegal substances when you yourself are a user. You do not have moral ascendancy,” he pointed out.

Domagoso, meanwhile, said he went to get tested at the PDEA office as it is the "the proper forum for drug testing."

“There is a right and proper agency fighting against drugs. They have proper scientific ways of finding out whether a person is a user or not," he said.

"Ito ang tama. Kung lumalaban tayo sa droga, at ang pangunahing agency ay ang PDEA (This is correct. If we fight drugs, and the main agency is the PDEA) we should continue to recognize the agency as the proper forum to submit ourselves to drug testing."
